Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the worlds largest rental
car company, was experiencing rapid growth and campus
expansion was not an easy proposition. After multiple
on-campus renovations, their Information Technology
Department could not resolve its facility shortfalls.
After assessing the departments growth needs,
CresaPartners and Enterprise concluded that the solution
was to establish an off-site technology campus/data
center.
Initially, the goal was to find an existing vacant
data center or easy-to-convert building for the technology
building which would save time versus new construction.
CresaPartners conducted an extensive market search,
but no existing data centers were available with the
systems or capacities that could meet Enterprises
needs.
As the IT Department continued to grow, it became clear
that the overall solution was to build a data center
that incorporated the best building features and would
allow for future growth needs. CresaPartners quickly
found appropriate land to build Enterprises technology
campus/data center. The land, made up of three tracts,
is located about 15 miles from the corporate headquarters
campus. CresaPartners negotiated terms to acquire the
major parcel and subsequent two additional parcels,
obtained all site plan approvals, qualified and assembled
the project team and handled all project management
responsibilities.
CresaPartners led the team to design a state-of-the-art
facility that met the specific needs of its client.
To create the desired operational reliability, the data
center was designed to withstand natural and man-made
disasters. Ultimately the building could sustain winds
up to 150 mph and flying debris at 250mph. The building
was also designed to include an appropriate level of
redundancy for its critical building systems, such as
two chilled water systems and an electrical back-up
system that would keep the building running at all times.
Future expansion plans include the development of a
second building on the Weldon Spring property.
