Consolidate and expand an existing office facility and
a post-production facility. Imax also needed to create
identity in the community with a visible free-standing
building. The new facility needed several specialized
areas including a 45' high internal screening room.
Identified an existing but dilapidated building, scheduled
for demolition, but in a prime location. By convincing
the owner to let us renovate it, instead of building
a new building, we cut the city approval cycle from
24 months to 12 months. The entire structure and slab
was totally demolished except for two exterior walls
that were encased by the new construction. The new building
in architecturally striking and completely custom.
